The five code sets

Nacha’s codes change with the Operating Rules; ISO publishes its external code sets quarterly and amends ISO 4217 whenever a currency changes. Recently withdrawn currencies stay listed, marked, with what replaced them.

Reading the results

  • Return timeframes are this site’s reading of the Nacha Operating Rules, with a caveat wherever a detail should be confirmed. The ACH date calculator turns a code and a settlement date into a deadline.
  • ISO 20022 definitions are paraphrased; the official text is in ISO’s External Code Sets.
  • A three-digit search also finds ISO 4217 numeric codes (840 is USD).
