Submitted Friday, October 30, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. ET with an effective date of the same day: before the first Same Day ACH deadline (10:30 a.m. ET), so it settles the same day at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Assumptions and caveats
  • Deadlines are FedACH’s; your ODFI’s cutoff for each window is earlier, and EPN’s schedule differs slightly.
  • A file deposited exactly at a deadline is treated as having missed it.
  • The 2:15 a.m. ET next-day deposit deadline and 8:30 a.m. ET settlement are FedACH’s next-day window.
  • Banking days follow the Federal Reserve holiday calendar; unscheduled closures are not included.

Same Day ACH windows

FedACH accepts Same Day files in three windows. An entry dated today (or earlier) that reaches the ACH Operator before a deadline settles that afternoon; anything later settles the next banking day.

FedACH deposit deadlines and settlement times, Eastern Time
WindowDeposit deadline (ET)Settlement (ET)
Same Day window 110:30 a.m. ET1:00 p.m. ET same day

Same Day window 34:45 p.m. ET6:00 p.m. ET same day
Next-day2:15 a.m. ET8:30 a.m. ET on the settlement day
  • Same Day ACH is limited to $1,000,000.00 per payment (rising to $10,000,000.00 for entries submitted on or after Friday, September 17, 2027); a larger entry settles the next banking day.
  • International ACH Transactions (IAT) are not eligible for Same Day ACH.
  • A deadline means before it: a file that arrives exactly at 10:30 a.m. ET has missed the first window. These are the ACH Operator’s deadlines — your ODFI’s cutoffs are earlier, and EPN’s schedule differs slightly.
  • Future-dated entries settle at 8:30 a.m. ET on their effective date, or the next banking day if it isn’t one.
  • Earlier submission dates get the rules then in force: Same Day ACH began Friday, September 23, 2016 (credits only until Friday, September 15, 2017) with the first two windows; the third window opened Friday, March 19, 2021; the limit was $25,000.00 until Friday, March 20, 2020 and $100,000.00 until Friday, March 18, 2022.

Return timeframes at a glance

What this calculator can’t know

  • Your ODFI’s own cutoffs and processing days, which its agreement with you sets.
  • Unscheduled Federal Reserve closures; banking days follow the Federal Reserve holiday calendar.
  • Rule changes after this page was built. The Nacha Operating Rules are the authority; check them before acting.
  • Whether a particular return is justified — only the timing the Rules give for its code.
